Altun quoted the late Aliya Izetbegovic, stating, "A forgotten genocide is repeated," emphasizing the ongoing relevance of remembering the atrocities of July 11th, which remains one of the darkest chapters in modern European history.

He described Srebrenica as the largest human tragedy in Europe since World War II, underscoring the need for humanity to learn from such tragedies. Altun drew parallels to current events, lamenting the ongoing genocide in Gaza and urging global efforts to uphold human dignity and preserve peace.

Highlighting recent international efforts, Altun noted Türkiye's support for the UN General Assembly's adoption of the Srebrenica Genocide Resolution. He also mentioned President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's designation of July 11th as Türkiye's "International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the Srebrenica Genocide."

Altun concluded with a solemn prayer for the victims of the Bosnian War and those massacred in Srebrenica, invoking Allah's mercy and calling for a deepened global conscience against genocide and crimes against humanity.

The message coincides with the planned mass funeral on July 11th, where 14 more victims of the Srebrenica Genocide will be laid to rest. (ILKHA)
