In the letter, released on Monday, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude to Nasrallah for his earlier congratulatory message and emphasized Iran's unwavering commitment to the Axis of Resistance. "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always supported the resistance of the people in the region against the illegitimate Zionist regime. The support for resistance is rooted in the fundamental policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the ideals of Imam Khomeini, and the guidance of the esteemed Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, and will continue with strength,” Pezeshkian wrote.

He voiced confidence in the capabilities of the Resistance to counter the Israeli regime. “I am confident that the resistance movements in the region will not allow this regime to continue its warmongering and criminal policies against the oppressed people of Palestine and other nations in the region.”

The president-elect concluded his remarks by wishing for the happiness and progress of the people of Lebanon and seeking divine assistance for Resistance fighters across the region.

Pezeshkian's letter arrives amidst escalating Israeli threats to invade Lebanon. The Israeli regime is pressuring Hezbollah forces and the Lebanese people in southern Lebanon to move at least 10 kilometers away from the border with the occupied territories. This demand comes in response to Hezbollah's continued support for Palestinians in Gaza, which has included attacks on Israeli military positions over the past nine months.

Hezbollah has refused the demand, asserting that it will neither vacate the border area nor cease its attacks against Israel until the regime's war in Gaza concludes.

In recent weeks, several Iranian officials, including advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Kamal Kharazi and high-ranking Army and IRGC officials, have reiterated Tehran's support for Hezbollah if an attack on Lebanon is initiated by Israel.

Pezeshkian’s letter to Hezbollah’s chief dispels these hopes, indicating that the incoming president will maintain Iran's strong backing of the Resistance, viewing it as essential and beneficial. (ILKHA)
