Turkish coast guard rescues 84 migrants off Aegean coast
The Turkish Coast Guard Command rescued 84 irregular migrants, including 21 children, off the coasts of Muğla and İzmir in western Türkiye.
According to official reports, Coast Guard teams rescued a total of 84 irregular migrants, among them 21 children, who were found aboard precarious vessels in distress.
Simultaneously, in coordinated efforts across both provinces, authorities captured 52 irregular migrants, including 10 children, who were attempting to navigate the sea illegally.
Additionally, the Coast Guard conducted a medical evacuation of a sick individual from a commercial yacht near the Fethiye district of Muğla.
Following standard procedures, all rescued and captured irregular migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing.
The operation underscores Turkey's ongoing efforts to manage irregular migration flows and ensure maritime safety in the region, amidst persistent challenges posed by migration across the Aegean Sea. (ILKHA)
