United States: Two killed, 17 injured in Detroit block party shooting
A block party on Detroit's east side turned tragic early Sunday morning when a shooter opened fire, leaving two people dead and 17 others injured.
In the early hours of Sunday, a block party on Detroit's east side became the scene of a deadly shooting. According to Detroit police, the incident occurred at 2:25 a.m. when an unidentified shooter opened fire on the gathering.
The Michigan State Police confirmed the fatalities and the number of injured in a statement posted on social media platform X. "Preliminary information indicates there are 19 victims with various injuries and 2 fatal victims. Currently, there is no one in custody," the state police reported.
The Michigan State Police are collaborating with the Detroit Police Department through their partnership on the Homicide Task Force to investigate the shooting. As of now, no suspect has been apprehended, and authorities have not released any additional details regarding the identity of the potential suspect.
