Gaza: 8,672 Palestinian students killed, 353 schools and universities bombed in Israeli attacks
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has reported that 8,672 Palestinian students have been killed and 14,583 injured since the onset of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, which began on October 7 of last year.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the ministry detailed that over 8,572 students in the Gaza Strip have been killed, with 14,089 wounded. In the West Bank, 100 students have been killed, 494 injured, and 349 arrested.
The ministry also reported that 497 teachers and administrators have been killed and 3,402 injured in both regions, with more than 109 arrests in the West Bank.
The attacks have heavily impacted educational infrastructure, with around 353 government schools, universities, university structures, and 65 UNRWA education facilities bombed and vandalized in the Gaza Strip. Among these, 139 have been severely damaged and 93 completely destroyed. Additionally, 133 government schools in the Gaza Strip are being used as shelters. In the West Bank, 57 schools have been stormed and vandalized.
The ongoing conflict has left 620,000 students in the Gaza Strip unable to attend school. Most students are also experiencing psychological trauma and facing difficult health conditions. (ILKHA)
