Türkiye's share in global exports increases, Trade Ministry announces

According to the World Trade Organization's (WTO) latest foreign trade statistics, global exports saw a 0.6 percent decline, totaling $5.919 trillion. In contrast, Turkey's exports rose by 3.6 percent, reaching $63.603 billion.

In a written statement, the Ministry highlighted that while world exports decreased annually by 4.2 percent to $23.808 trillion, Türkiye's exports increased by 0.8 percent, amounting to $257.6 billion.

"Despite the decline in global exports, our exports continued to increase," the Ministry stated. "In this context, the upward trend in the share of annualized exports in global exports continued in the first quarter of 2024 and increased by 0.05 percentage points compared to the first quarter of 2023 to 1.082 percent."

The Ministry emphasized its commitment to further enhancing Türkiye's position in global trade through policies and strategies focused on value-added, innovation, and competitiveness-oriented exports.

The statement also reiterated Türkiye's dedication to leveraging global trade trends to strengthen its role in the international supply chain and continue building on its recent gains. (ILKHA)
