UN Security Council to hold special session on Gaza reconstruction
The United Nations Security Council is set to convene a special session tomorrow to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to focus specifically on reconstruction efforts in the region.
The session, which was scheduled for Tuesday, will feature a briefing by Sigrid Kaag, the United Nations Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza. The meeting follows the adoption of Resolution 2720 on December 22, 2023, aimed at addressing the ongoing challenges in Gaza.
Sigrid Kaag recently held discussions in Washington with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken regarding the situation in Gaza, underscoring international efforts to support reconstruction and humanitarian relief in the conflict-affected area. (ILKHA)
