The attacks, believed to be carried out by suspected female suicide bombers, targeted a wedding, a funeral, and a hospital in the town of Gwoza in Nigeria’s northeastern state of Borno.

"The first bomb blast occurred around 3 pm during a wedding ceremony. A few minutes later, another bomb exploded at General Hospital Gwoza. While the community was gathering for a funeral for the deceased, another suicide bomber detonated a bomb," Saidu reported.

The confirmed deaths include children, adults, and pregnant women. Local media outlets have suggested that the death toll could be higher, potentially close to 30.

The injured victims are receiving initial treatment at the Medical Regimental Services (MRS) clinic before being transferred to Maiduguri for further care.

In response to the attacks, the military has imposed a curfew in Gwoza. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the bombings.

This tragic incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria’s northeastern region, which has been plagued by violence and insurgency. (ILKHA)
