Saudi Arabia urges citizens to leave Lebanon amid rising tensions
Saudi Arabia has advised its citizens to depart Lebanon immediately, citing escalating events in southern Lebanon, according to a report by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on Saturday.
"The Saudi embassy in Lebanon has issued a statement urging all Saudi citizens to comply with travel restrictions to Lebanon, given the current developments," SPA stated.
This advisory follows similar warnings from other countries. Earlier in the week, Germany also advised its citizens to leave Lebanon promptly due to heightened risks of violence amid ongoing exchanges between Israel and Hezbollah.
The tensions stem from frequent cross-border skirmishes between Israel and Hezbollah, an Iran-backed group and ally of Hamas in Lebanon. The conflict intensified after an October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel sparked a wider war in the Gaza Strip.
Recent days have seen an increase in hostilities, raising concerns over further escalations. (ILKHA)
