Turkish military neutralizes 10 PKK/YPG members in northern Iraq and Syria
The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the neutralization of 10 PKK/YPG members in ongoing counter-terrorism operations in northern Iraq and Syria.
"Our fight against terrorism continues effectively and decisively! Our heroic Turkish Armed Forces neutralized 6 PKK terrorists identified in the Operation Claw-Lock region in northern Iraq and 4 PKK/YPG terrorists identified in the Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch regions in northern Syria,” the ministry said in a statement on X.
The term "neutralized" is typically used by Turkish authorities to signify that the terrorists were either killed or captured.
These regions have been the target of previous Turkish military operations aimed at preventing the formation of a corridor along the Turkish border.
The announcement underscores Türkiye’s continued resolve in combating the PKK, which it designates as a terrorist organization. The PKK has waged an insurgency in southeastern Turkey for decades, resulting in the deaths of tens of thousands of people. (ILKHA)
