Turkish airports handle nearly 8 million passengers during Eid Al-Adha holiday

Minister Uraloğlu highlighted the significant air traffic at airports across Türkiye during the holiday, stating: "Between June 14 and 23, a total of 7,916,726 passengers were served on 52,819 flights at airports nationwide."

The minister detailed that Istanbul Airport alone handled 15,541 flights and served 2,434,107 passengers during the same period. The airport reached its highest number of passengers in 2024 with 261,916 passengers on Sunday, June 23.

Addressing the impact of the extended 9-day holiday, Uraloğlu said: "Esenboğa Airport saw 2,858 flights and served 408,920 passengers. The highest passenger number of 2024 at this airport was recorded on Friday, June 14, with 46,069 passengers. At Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, 2,429 flights were conducted, serving 386,292 passengers. The highest passenger count for 2024 was on Friday, June 21, with 43,508 passengers. Antalya Airport handled 10,198 flights and served 1,756,615 passengers between June 14 and 23, breaking the 2024 record with 199,751 passengers on Saturday, June 22."

Uraloğlu also reported that Muğla Milas-Bodrum Airport saw 1,453 flights, serving 224,972 passengers during the holiday period. The airport achieved its highest passenger number of 2024 with 26,762 passengers on June 20.

Similarly, Muğla Dalaman Airport recorded 1,705 flights and served 285,043 passengers, reaching its highest number of passengers in 2024 with 31,728 on June 17.

These figures underscore the substantial increase in air travel during the extended Eid Al-Adha holiday, reflecting the high demand for air travel across Türkiye's major airports. (ILKHA)
