4.2 magnitude earthquake strikes off coast of Crete Island in Mediterranean Sea
A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck off the south-eastern coast of Crete Island in the Mediterranean Sea, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD).
The tremor occurred at 11:14 am local time, with its epicenter located at sea, southeast of Crete Island. Reports indicate the earthquake was centered approximately 400 kilometers away from Muğla's Datça district in Turkey.
AFAD reported that the earthquake struck at a depth of 49.2 kilometers below the sea surface.
No immediate reports of casualties or significant damage were reported following the earthquake. Seismologists continue to monitor the situation for any aftershocks or further seismic activity in the region.
