Islamic Emirate calls on UNAMA to accurately portray Afghanistan ahead of UNSC meeting
Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, urged the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) to represent the country's realities truthfully during the upcoming UN Security Council meeting.
Mujahid emphasized that fostering dialogue between the Islamic Emirate and the international community is a key responsibility of UNAMA. He criticized the mission for failing to accurately portray Afghanistan, attributing this to its perceived mission failures.
"They have consistently failed in this regard due to presenting an inaccurate image," Mujahid stated, urging UNAMA to reshape international perceptions and encourage greater engagement with Afghanistan.
UNAMA's head is slated to deliver a quarterly report on Afghanistan to the UN Security Council on June 21. In its recent report titled "The Human Rights Situation in Afghanistan," published on May 2, UNAMA expressed ongoing concerns regarding the unchanged human rights landscape in the country.
The call from the Islamic Emirate underscores ongoing efforts to influence international narratives about Afghanistan amid shifting geopolitical dynamics and humanitarian challenges. (ILKHA)
