United States: Two killed in single-engine plane crash in Northern California
Authorities confirmed that two individuals died in a single-engine plane crash in Northern California on Thursday.
The Alpine County Sheriff's Office received a report of an overdue aircraft at approximately 1 a.m., according to a statement posted on Facebook.
The crashed aircraft, identified as a Luscombe 8A, was located using its GPS transponder in a mountainous area near Luther Pass, situated approximately 10 miles (16 kilometers) south of South Lake Tahoe.
Both occupants of the plane, whose identities have not been disclosed, were declared deceased at the crash site, stated the sheriff's office.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has initiated an investigation into the incident. (ILKHA)
