The number of paid employees in Turkey, encompassing industry, construction, and trade-services sectors, saw a significant annual increase of 4.6% in April 2024 compared to April 2023.
This translates to a rise from 14,617,730 paid employees in April 2023 to 15,283,778 in April 2024. However, growth wasn't uniform across all sectors. The industrial sector witnessed a more modest increase of 1.0%, while the construction sector experienced a robust 12.9% jump. The trade-services sector also saw healthy growth of 5.1% year-on-year.
Looking at the monthly data, the overall number of paid employees exhibited a slight increase of 0.2% in April 2024 compared to March 2024. Here again, sectoral trends varied. The industrial sector saw a small decrease of 0.2% in monthly employment, while construction continued its positive momentum with a 1.0% monthly rise. The trade-services sector also maintained stability with a 0.2% monthly increase in paid employees.
Overall, the data suggests a positive trend in Türkiye's job market, with both annual and slight monthly growth in paid employees across key sectors. (ILKHA)
