Erdogan expressed his gratitude during an official visit to Spain, where the two leaders inaugurated an economic forum in Madrid.

Erdogan commended Sanchez for his "principled and consistent policy" since the onset of the genocide, highlighting the Spanish leader's special place in the hearts of the Turkish nation. "In the name of my people, I congratulate Sanchez for his attitude," Erdogan stated.

The Turkish president, known for his strong support of the Palestinians and Gaza's Hamas leadership, reiterated his accusations against Israel, describing its actions in Gaza as "genocide" that "hurts everyone with a conscience." He criticized Israel's response to ceasefire calls, characterizing it as "arrogance that responds even to ceasefire calls with bloodshed."

Since the genocide began on October 7, Spain has emerged as one of the most vocal critics of Israel within the European Union. Prime Minister Sanchez's firm stance has garnered attention and commendation from various quarters, including Erdogan.

Erdogan's visit to Spain and his remarks underscore the deepening international divisions over the Gaza conflict and highlight the ongoing diplomatic efforts to address the crisis. (ILKHA)
