Gaza hospitals in desperate need of generators--Health Ministry

For the past nine months, hospitals in Gaza have been relying on generators to supply power, a situation that has become increasingly dire as some generators have been severely damaged or destroyed, according to a press release from the Ministry.

The Ministry warned that the situation is expected to worsen as electrical generators in other hospitals, health centers, and drug warehouses are likely to fail due to the denial of entry for maintenance spare parts. The cessation of generators, they caution, could lead to patient fatalities and a complete halt in health services.

The Ministry accused Israeli occupation troops of intentionally demolishing the generators at several key medical facilities, including Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Nasser Hospital, the Indonesian Hospital, and Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.

The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital is reportedly operating on a single generator due to the breakdown of the main generator, posing a significant risk of a humanitarian disaster. Despite efforts to communicate with international organizations, particularly the Red Cross, to obtain new generators and spare parts during the Israeli aggression, they were unsuccessful due to Israel’s refusal to allow entry.

The Ministry’s appeal underscores the urgent need for international intervention to prevent a health crisis in Gaza. (ILKHA)
