Lavrov's statement comes amidst reports of forthcoming French military assistance to Ukraine, despite official French denial of deployed personnel within the country.

The announcement follows discussions between Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov and French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu, indicating a potential collaboration. However, France has yet to officially confirm any troop deployment to aid Ukrainian forces.

Nevertheless, Lavrov's warning underscores heightened tensions between Russia and Western nations amid the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Recent reports have suggested the presence of Western nationals, including French citizens, fighting alongside Ukrainian forces, further exacerbating diplomatic strains.

Lavrov's African diplomatic tour, which included visits to Mali and pledges of military support, signals Russia's broader international engagements. Additionally, his dismissal of an upcoming Ukraine summit in Switzerland as "meaningless" underscores Russia's skepticism towards Western-led initiatives and alliances, accusing them of anti-Russian agendas.

Lavrov is scheduled to meet with Mali's leader, Captain Ibrahim Traore, before proceeding to Chad for further diplomatic engagements. (ILKHA)
