People in Ankara reaffirm their support for Palestine

Since October 7, the platform alleges, Israeli forces have intensified their occupation and ongoing genocide in Gaza, using the Al-Aqsa Flood Operation as justification for their actions. To date, approximately 40,000 Gazans, mostly women and children, have been killed, with tens of thousands wounded and millions displaced to so-called safe zones.

The Ankara Palestine Solidarity Platform declared their commitment to keeping the issue of the Gaza massacres in the spotlight until permanent peace and security for Palestinians are achieved.

AGEMDER President Tahsin Gülen read a press statement on behalf of the participants.

“You will not succeed,” Gülen stated to the occupiers, reiterating their support for the Palestinian cause. “We have gathered once again to say we are one, we are together, and we will win.”

He argued that Israeli forces are desperate against HAMAS’s military operations and have been unable to free hostages held by HAMAS for eight months despite substantial military and political support from the West. Consequently, Gülen claimed, Israeli forces are targeting civilians in retaliation, even in so-called safe zones and tent encampments. “The Zionist terrorist organization continues its terror attacks, emboldened by the silence of the leaders of Islamic countries,” he stated, adding that “the recent massacre in Rafah that burnt people alive are where words have failed.”

The press statement emphasized that Islamic countries have historically helped the oppressed regardless of religion or ethnicity. It argued that Israel disregards human values and international law in Gaza, concluding that “the negotiation process with Israel is over and the period of total confrontation has begun.”

Recalling the compassion the Ottomans showed Jews in history, Tahsin Gülen urged the Jewish community in Türkiye, and Jewish businessmen in particular, to distance themselves from the Zionists and condemn their actions.

The statement also highlighted that Palestinians are “not only struggling for their own land” but are also “fighting for the whole Islamic World.” Consequently, it suggested preventive measures including revoking the citizenship of those complicit in genocide and the closure of Kürecik and İncirlik bases in Türkiye.
