Dozens join Iran's snap election race as registration deadline approaches
Iran’s snap election race saw a surge in candidate registrations on Monday, as dozens of new contenders joined the fray for the upcoming election scheduled for June 28.
According to Mohammad Eslami, spokesperson for the election headquarters, Monday was the busiest registration day yet, with 86 people contacting the headquarters, resulting in 22 confirmed registrations.
Eslami noted that out of the newly registered candidates, one was a woman and 21 were men. He emphasized that the registration process will continue until 18:00 today and confirmed that the deadline will not be extended.
The influx of candidates highlights the competitive nature of this snap election, which has garnered significant interest across the country. With the registration window closing soon, the final list of candidates is expected to be solidified by the end of the day. (ILKHA)
