Baghdad and Erbil see progress in resolving longstanding issues

The president emphasized the importance of resolving budget and salary issues for the citizens of the Kurdistan Region, stating that these are essential for the livelihood of the people.

"The allocation of budget and payment of salaries for the Kurdistan Region must never be postponed," President Rashid stated, highlighting the critical nature of these matters for the region's residents.

Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani echoed these sentiments, noting the improved relations and mutual understanding with the central government during a speech at a graduation ceremony at the American University in Duhok. President Barzani expressed his gratitude to the federal prime minister and other officials for their continuous efforts to resolve key issues between the central and regional governments.

"We are committed to overcoming these problems and advancing our relations with Baghdad," President Barzani said, underscoring the importance of cooperation and mutual interests in dealings with neighboring countries.

Iraq Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani visited Baghdad on May 30, where he held talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani and other top officials. Following the discussions, Prime Minister Barzani stated that federal authorities had reiterated their support for the constitutional rights of the Kurdistan Region. He also assured that the issue of salary payments would be fundamentally resolved shortly.

Both President Rashid and President Barzani emphasized the significance of continuing to build on the positive developments and ensuring that the remaining issues are swiftly addressed. Their statements reflect a strong commitment to fostering stability and prosperity through enhanced cooperation between Baghdad and Erbil.
