In a recent statement on X, Albanese called for external pressure and sanctions against Israel. "The genocide in Gaza will not end without external pressure, and sanctions must be imposed on Israel and investments, agreements, trade, and partnerships with it must be suspended," she said.

The Israeli forces targeted the tents of people sheltering in a displacement camp near the warehouses of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), northwest of Rafah. The attack resulted in the death of more than 40 civilians and left others injured.

Despite the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordering Israel to immediately cease its military operations in Rafah city last Friday, the Israeli occupation continues its aggression against the Gaza Strip. The ICJ also ordered the opening of the Rafah crossing to enable the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip.

Since the aggression began on October 7th, 35,984 people have been killed, the majority of whom were children and women, and 80,643 others have been injured. Thousands of victims remain missing under the rubble or scattered on the roads. The international community awaits further action to address this ongoing crisis. (ILKHA)
