Day 233: Israeli forces continue aggression in Gaza, 35,984 Palestinians killed
Israeli forces have intensified their offensive in Gaza, committing eight massacres against Palestinian families over the past 24 hours, resulting in the deaths of 81 Palestinians and injuries to 223 others, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
Since the escalation of the conflict on October 7, the total number of Palestinians killed has reached 35,984, with 80,643 others wounded. The Ministry of Health warns that the actual number of casualties is likely higher, as many bodies remain trapped under rubble, and rescue efforts are hampered by ongoing hostilities and restricted access for ambulances and civil defense crews.
The latest wave of violence in the Gaza Strip saw heavy Israeli artillery shelling across various areas, including the bombing of a house in Khirbet al-Adas, east of Rafah, which led to the recovery of six bodies, significant shelling in the Beit Lahia project market area in northern Gaza resulting in numerous casualties, and the bombing of a residential apartment in the Iman Tower within the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza, causing further casualties.
Entire residential buildings in Rafah's neighborhoods of al-Shoka and al-Jeneina were destroyed by Israeli forces on Saturday. The occupation forces conducted intense bombardments on Rafah and other areas throughout the night, resulting in numerous deaths and widespread destruction.
Local sources report that the Israeli occupation has consistently targeted civilian areas, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The ongoing violence has severely restricted the ability of medical and emergency services to provide aid, with many victims left without timely medical attention.
The Ministry of Health and local authorities continue to call for international intervention to halt the violence and allow humanitarian assistance to reach the affected population. The situation remains dire, with the civilian population bearing the brunt of the prolonged and brutal conflict. (ILKHA)
