In a press release, the ministry highlighted its deep distress over reports of atrocities committed against civilians, particularly in Rakhine State, where the Rohingya Muslim community has been severely affected.

The ministry's statement emphasized the forced displacement of tens of thousands of people due to the ongoing violence. "We have been following with great concern the escalation of fighting and the increasing civilian loss of life in Myanmar in recent months. We are deeply troubled by the reports of atrocities against civilians in Rakhine State, particularly Rohingya Muslims, and the violations that have resulted in the forced displacement of tens of thousands of people," the statement read.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry called on all parties involved in the conflict to adhere to international law and international humanitarian law. The ministry urged the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure, and cautioned against actions that could further escalate ethnic or religious tensions, including forced recruitment.

Furthermore, the ministry stressed the importance of allowing humanitarian assistance to reach the affected regions without delay. "We call on the fighting sides to respect international law and international humanitarian law; to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure; to refrain from actions that could escalate ethnic or religious conflict, including forced recruitment; and to allow access to the region for the immediate and unhindered flow of humanitarian assistance," the ministry stated.

The Turkish government reiterated its commitment to monitoring the situation closely and supporting international efforts to bring peace and stability to Myanmar. (ILKHA)
