Russian strikes kill five and injure nine in Kharkiv Oblast, Ukraine
Russian forces launched strikes on villages in the Kupiansk district of Kharkiv Oblast, resulting in the deaths of five people and injuries to nine others.
The villages of Novoosynove and Kivsharivka were targeted by multiple rocket systems. Among the casualties were three men aged 58, 64, and 65, as well as two women aged 56 and 72.
Kharkiv Oblast has witnessed intensified attacks in recent months, with civilians fleeing due to the escalating violence. On the same day, Russian troops attacked a northern suburb of Kharkiv, killing five civilians, including a pregnant woman, and injuring 16 others. The attack occurred in Mala Danylivka, approximately 70 kilometers southwest of the contested Vovchansk region.
Kharkiv Oblast Governor Oleh Syniehubov condemned the attacks, highlighting the deliberate targeting of local residents. In a subsequent post, he revealed that Russian forces had employed a "double-tap" strike, firing two Iskander ballistic missiles—one targeting the initial strike area and the other aimed at rescue workers.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky strongly denounced the "Russian terror" and called for increased air defense systems from Ukraine's allies. He emphasized the need for collective action to counter the ongoing aggression. (ILKHA)
