Türkiye’s economic program yields positive results in inflation expectations

In a statement on his social media account, Minister Şimşek highlighted the following points:

“The positive results of our programme are also reflected in inflation expectations. While the year-end inflation expectation continued to decline, the 12-month-ahead expectation decreased by 12.1 points compared to October and became 33.2 per cent. The improvement in expectations is very important in breaking inflation inertia and achieving permanent price stability. After reaching its highest level in May, we expect annual inflation to decline rapidly in the rest of the year."

Şimşek emphasized that the decline in inflation expectations is crucial for overcoming inflation inertia and attaining long-term price stability. He noted that as actual inflation rates start to fall, public expectations will align more closely with the government's targets, accelerating the disinflation process.

"We are determined to reach our target," Şimşek affirmed, expressing confidence in the government's ability to manage inflation effectively and achieve sustainable economic stability. (ILKHA)
