7 PKK/YPG members neutralized by Turkish Armed Forces in Syria and Iraq
The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced today that Turkish Armed Forces conducted operations against the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its Syrian affiliate, the People's Protection Units (YPG), in northern Iraq and Syria.
According to the Ministry's statement, a total of 7 PKK/YPG members were "neutralized" during the operations.
The term "neutralized" is often used by the Turkish military to signify that the individuals were killed, captured, or otherwise rendered incapable of combat.
The Turkish government considers the PKK a terrorist organization and has been engaged in a long-running conflict with the group. The YPG is seen by Ankara as an extension of the PKK and has also been targeted by Turkish military operations. (ILKHA)
