In a social media post, UNRWA highlighted the escalating crisis, stating: “Nearly 360,000 people have fled Rafah since the first evacuation order a week ago. Meanwhile, in north Gaza bombardments & other evacuation orders have created more displacement & fear for thousands of families. There’s nowhere to go. There’s NO safety without a ceasefire.”

Israel's military offensive in and around Rafah, part of its broader invasion of the Gaza Strip, has triggered international condemnation, even from its allies, amid mounting concerns about potential humanitarian repercussions.

Prior to the offensive, Rafah had already become a refuge for approximately 1.4 million displaced Palestinians from other areas within the Gaza Strip.

As Israel's operations continue to unfold, the situation in Rafah and across Gaza remains dire, with thousands of families facing displacement and fear amidst ongoing bombardments. The deepening humanitarian crisis underscores the urgent need for a ceasefire and concerted international action to address the escalating conflict and protect civilian lives. (ILKHA)
