Turkish coast guard rescues migrants from sinking boat off Muğla coast
The Turkish Coast Guard executed a successful rescue operation today as they saved migrants from a rubber boat in peril off the coast of Muğla.
The boat, carrying irregular migrants attempting to reach Greek islands, encountered trouble near the Datça district. Adverse weather conditions caused the rubber boat to take on water, putting the lives of its occupants at risk.
The Turkish Coast Guard swiftly responded to distress calls, dispatching boats to rescue the endangered individuals.
In total, 13 irregular migrants along with a child were rescued from the sinking rubber boat and the choppy sea surface by Coast Guard vessels. Additionally, authorities apprehended a suspected migrant smuggler believed to be associated with the ill-fated voyage.
