EU foreign policy chief condemns Israeli evacuation orders in Rafah

Borrell, in a statement on his page, emphasized that Israel is bound by international law to ensure the safety of civilians. "Forcing civilians to evacuate Rafah to unsafe zones is intolerable," he said.

The EU official continued to urge Israel not to proceed with a ground operation in Rafah, warning that such an action would further exacerbate an already dire humanitarian crisis.

According to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), around 300,000 people have fled Rafah over the past week due to the ongoing forced and inhumane displacement of Palestinians.

UNRWA issued a warning on Sunday, stating that there is no safe place left in the Gaza Strip.

Earlier on Saturday, the Israeli army ordered a further evacuation of Rafah. The army claimed that its upcoming military operations would target Hamas fighters in those areas. However, its activities on the ground have consistently led to massacres and atrocities. (ILKHA)
