Turkish forces kill 17 PKK/YPG members in Iraq and northern Syria
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced that 17 members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its Syrian affiliate, the YPG, were killed in operations conducted in northern Iraq and Syria.
The Ministry's social media post stated that 10 PKK members were "neutralized" - a term encompassing those killed, wounded or captured - in the Hakurk, Gara, and Claw-Lock Operation zones of northern Iraq. Additionally, 7 PKK/YPG members were neutralized in operations within Syria's Olive Branch and Peace Spring regions.
This announcement comes amidst ongoing tensions between Turkey and the PKK, which is designated as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the United States, and the European Union. Türkiye has carried out numerous military operations targeting PKK positions in both Iraq and Syria. (ILKHA)
