Turkish coast guard rescues migrants pushed back by Greece
The Turkish Coast Guard rescued 66 irregular migrants, including 20 children, in operations off the coasts of Aydın, İzmir, and Balıkesir.
Authorities received reports of rubber boats carrying migrants in distress and dispatched Coast Guard teams to the areas. The teams rescued all 66 migrants, who Turkish officials allege were pushed back by Greek forces.
Separately, Coast Guard units apprehended a total of 63 migrants, including 37 children, found on inflatable boats in the same three provinces.
Following rescue and processing, all migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management. (ILKHA)
