Silence is complicity: University students worldwide stand against Gaza genocide
University students worldwide have been at the forefront of demonstrations and activism in solidarity with the people of Gaza since the onset of the conflict.
These students, hailing from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines, have united under a common cause: to condemn the ongoing violence and oppression perpetrated by the Israeli regime and to advocate for justice and freedom for the Palestinian people.
Among these passionate activists are the students of Inonu University, who have been actively involved in organizing events and protests to raise awareness about the plight of Gaza. Despite facing challenges and obstacles, they remain steadfast in their commitment to standing up against injustice and oppression.
Recently, the Inonu University Student Communities in Malatya took their activism to the next level by organizing a series of events at the Theology Faculty Mosque courtyard. Following Friday prayers, students gathered to denounce the atrocities committed by the Israeli regime in Gaza. Their rallying cry, "Silence is complicity in genocide," echoed the sentiments of millions around the world who refuse to remain silent in the face of injustice.
In a powerful display of solidarity, academics and students came together for a sit-in, symbolically leaving behind their academic attire and pens to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives in the struggle for justice. As the life stories of the fallen were shared aloud, emotions ran high, fueling the resolve of those present to continue their fight for a better world.
The voices of these students, from Yemen, Somalia, Angola, Syria, and beyond, resonate with passion and determination. They speak not only of their own experiences and struggles but also of the collective pain and suffering of the Palestinian people. Their message is clear: the oppression and violence in Gaza must end, and they will not rest until justice is served.
