The hunger strike, organized by members of the "Palestine Solidarity Camp" at Princeton University, aims to draw attention to the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza and to demand divestment from companies linked to Israel's military campaigns.

"We have begun a hunger strike in solidarity with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, who are suffering under the ongoing Israeli siege," stated the organizers in a press release.

The initiative comes in response to the American administration's refusal to meet their demands for withdrawal of support to Israel. Organizers highlighted the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where millions face a man-made famine and severe shortages of essential supplies.

"The decision to strike comes in response to the American administration's refusal to meet our demands by withdrawing its support for Israel," the statement read.

The hunger strike at Princeton University adds to a growing student movement across American universities, which began on April 18 in solidarity with Gaza and has since spread internationally to countries including France, Britain, Germany, Canada, and India.

According to local health authorities, the Israeli aggression on Gaza, ongoing since October 7, 2023, has resulted in 34,654 documented Palestinian fatalities, with the majority being children and women. Additionally, 77,908 injuries have been reported since the start of the onslaught. (ILKHA)
