Turkish inflation soars to 69.8% year-on-year in April
Türkiye's Consumer Price Index (CPI) surged 69.8% year-on-year in April 2024, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute.

This marks a significant increase from 18.72% in December 2023. The monthly inflation rate was 3.18%.
The education sector witnessed the highest annual increase at 103.86%, while clothing and footwear saw the lowest at 51.20%.
On a monthly basis, health saw the smallest increase at 1.03%, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco showed the highest increase at 9.56%.
The core inflation rate, excluding volatile categories like food, energy, and some goods, reached 72.72% annually. The monthly core inflation rate was 3.24%.
These figures highlight Türkiye's ongoing battle with high inflation, posing challenges for both the government and Turkish citizens. (ILKHA)
