Turkish Coast Guard rescues 36 migrants after engine failure Off Ayvalık coast
The Turkish Coast Guard rescued 36 irregular migrants, including 14 children, on Saturday after their inflatable boat drifted due to engine failure off the coast of Ayvalık district.
The migrants were attempting to reach Greece illegally when their vessel malfunctioned. They were then spotted adrift at sea and prompted a rescue operation by the Coast Guard.
All 36 migrants were brought safely to shore in Ayvalık and transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management.
The incident underscores the ongoing challenges faced by migrants attempting to make the perilous journey across the sea to Greece.
