Former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn was among the demonstrators at the forefront of the pro-Palestine protest, holding banners advocating for peace. Chants of “Stop bombing Gaza, stop bombing children” resonated through the crowds, while placards declaring “Free Palestine, smash the racists” were prominently displayed.

Addressing the gathering at Hyde Park, Palestinian Ambassador to the UK Husam Zomlot expressed optimism, stating: “Change will come, campus by campus, city by city, country by country. The tide is turning because this is a global movement for change, a global assertion of popular power, of people’s power.” Protesters echoed the sentiment with chants of “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”.

The PSC march marked the 13th national protest since its inception on October 9, emphasizing the sustained momentum of the movement.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic in the United States, hundreds of students and academics have faced arrests during rallies denouncing Israel’s war on Gaza. Originating at New York’s Columbia University, the protests quickly spread to other educational institutions in the US, Europe, and Australia, spurred by a police crackdown in response to the initial demonstrations.
