Turkish forces neutralize 54 PKK/YPG members in past week
The Turkish Ministry of National Defense announced that security forces neutralized 54 members of the PKK/YPG in the last week.
The announcement was made during a weekly press briefing meeting on the activities of the Ministry of National Defence, led by Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, Press and Public Relations Advisor.
According to Aktürk, a total of 54 PKK/YPG members were neutralized in the past week, with operations spanning both Iraq and northern Syria. This brings the cumulative count of neutralized terrorists since January 1, 2024, to 802, including 360 in northern Iraq and 442 in northern Syria.
Highlighting the effectiveness of Turkish operations, Aktürk noted that two PKK terrorists surrendered to a Turkish Border Post in Habur on April 21 after fleeing from their shelters in northern Iraq.
In addition to combatting terrorism, Turkish forces have been vigilant in safeguarding the nation's borders. Over the past week, 284 individuals, including six members of terrorist organizations, were apprehended attempting to cross the border illegally. Furthermore, 2,291 individuals were prevented from crossing the border. Since the beginning of 2024, the number of apprehensions has risen to 2,769, while the number of prevented border crossings stands at 48,596.
