Türkiye records surge in road motor vehicle registrations in March

The breakdown of vehicle registrations in March reveals that motorcycles constituted the largest portion at 45.5%, followed by cars at 39.1%, small trucks at 8.7%, tractors at 3.8%, trucks at 1.8%, minibuses at 0.6%, buses at 0.4%, and special purpose vehicles at 0.1%.

Compared to the previous month, road motor vehicle registrations saw a notable uptick of 17.1% in March.

Further analysis of the data indicates that motorcycle registrations experienced the most substantial increase at 21.9%, followed by tractors at 18.3%, cars at 15.4%, buses at 15.4%, small trucks at 7.3%, trucks at 0.8%, while registrations for special purpose vehicles and minibuses decreased by 8.8% and 6.9%, respectively.

On a year-on-year basis, road motor vehicle registrations surged by 18.2% in March compared to the same month of the previous year.

As of the end of March, the total number of road motor vehicles registered reached 29,367,254, with cars representing the largest share at 52.8%, followed by motorcycles at 18.1%, small trucks at 15.5%, and tractors at 7.5%, among others.

Additionally, a total of 865,144 road motor vehicles were handed over in March, with cars accounting for the majority at 67.1%, followed by small trucks at 14.9%, and motorcycles at 10.3%.

In terms of car trademarks for new registrations in March, Renault led with 12.7%, followed by Fiat at 10.7%, and Chery at 7.1%, among others.

Looking at the January-March period, a total of 633,710 road motor vehicles were registered, marking a 37.5% increase compared to the same period of the previous year. The most common engine size for registered cars during this period was 1300 or less, and the majority of registered cars were grey in color. (ILKHA)
