In the wake of the resounding failure, multiple officials within the Israeli Military Directorate have either resigned or been dismissed. Major General Haliva's resignation marks the latest in a series of departures from the embattled organization.

Haliva submitted his resignation to the Office of the Israeli Chief of Staff, taking responsibility for the intelligence failure on October 7. He is expected to step down in the coming weeks, with Lieutenant Colonel Shlomi Binder speculated to replace him.

The resignation comes after intense scrutiny and internal discord within the Military Intelligence Directorate, which faced criticism for its failure to anticipate and warn against Operation Al-Aqsa Flood by the Palestinian Resistance.

Confirming Haliva's resignation, the Israeli military stated that he had requested to step down due to his leadership responsibility for the events of October 7. His retirement from the zionist occupation forces (ZOF) will occur once his successor is appointed.

Haliva's resignation follows that of other high-ranking officials, including Brigadier General Amit Saar, head of the Research Division, who cited health reasons for his departure.

In a letter to Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, Haliva outlined his reasons for resigning, emphasizing the need for accountability among top military officials involved in the October 7 failure.

Haliva had previously acknowledged the intelligence failure, admitting that the Military Intelligence Directorate under his command had not adequately warned of the Hamas terror attack. He reiterated his full responsibility for the failure and expressed his intention to step down in its aftermath.

The resignation of Major General Aharon Haliva underscores the significant repercussions of the intelligence lapse on October 7, highlighting the ongoing turmoil within Israel's Military Intelligence Directorate. (ILKHA)
