Turkish coast guard rescues 9 irregular migrants off Datça coast
Turkish Coast Guard Command teams rescued nine irregular migrants, including a child, from a disabled rubber boat drifting off the coast of Datça district in Muğla province.
The incident reportedly occurred when the Coast Guard identified a struggling vessel and dispatched a team for assistance. Upon reaching the scene, they found a rubber boat with engine failure carrying nine migrants.
All nine migrants, including a child, were safely brought aboard the Coast Guard vessel. Additionally, one individual suspected of being a migrant smuggler was apprehended.
The rescued migrants were transferred to the Provincial Directorate of Migration Management for further processing. The status of the detained suspected smuggler is unclear, but it is likely they will face legal proceedings. (ILKHA)
