UN Chief applauds Armenia-Azerbaijan border agreement
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed his approval of Friday's agreement on the delineation of the state border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, according to his spokesman.
Stephane Dujarric, the chief spokesman for Guterres, stated that the secretary-general has been closely monitoring the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan. He welcomed the agreement reached on Friday between the respective State Commissions regarding the delineation of the state border between the two countries.
Guterres has encouraged both parties to persist in the delineation and demarcation of the remaining sections of the border and to address all outstanding bilateral issues to achieve complete normalization of relations, Dujarric added.
In a significant move towards normalization, Armenia has reportedly agreed to return four villages to Azerbaijan. (ILKHA)
