Turkish forces neutralize 75 PKK/YPG members in two weeks
The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced that 75 PKK/YPG members were neutralized in northern Iraq and northern Syria during the last two weeks.
Rear Admiral Zeki Aktürk, Press and Public Relations Advisor, held a weekly press briefing to update the public on the Ministry's activities. Aktürk stated that since January 1, 2024, a total of 748 militants have been neutralized, with 331 in northern Iraq and 417 in northern Syria.
In addition to the neutralized militants, Turkish authorities apprehended 373 people in the last two weeks, including 11 members of illegal armed organizations. They also prevented 4,784 people from illegally crossing the border.
This brings the total number of people apprehended trying to cross the border illegally to 2,485 since the beginning of the year, and the number prevented from crossing to 46,305.
On April 4th, a PKK militant surrendered to Turkish Border Patrol in Habur after fleeing from a shelter area in northern Iraq.
Aktürk also reported the seizure of approximately 45 kilograms of narcotics and 7 pistols during operations conducted in the last two weeks. (ILKHA)
