United States: Mass shooting leaves one dead, 11 injured in New Orleans
Authorities in New Orleans are probing a mass shooting that occurred late Sunday night, resulting in the death of one woman and injuries to 11 others.
The incident took place around 11:56 p.m. on Sunday in the 800 block of South Peters Street, near The Republic NOLA, according to confirmation from the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a woman, whose age and identity have not been disclosed, fatally wounded on the sidewalk, along with multiple other victims who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Police reported that among the injured were five men and six women. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to the scene and transported some of the victims to a nearby hospital, while others arrived at medical facilities in private vehicles.
Authorities have not released any information regarding a potential motive or suspect in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing, with no further details available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will provide the identity of the deceased victim following an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
