The conversation between the two leaders occurred following Iran's unprecedented retaliation on Israel. This was in response to the strike that targeted Iran's consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on April 1.

Biden, in his call with Netanyahu, stated that US forces have assisted Israel in intercepting nearly all of the incoming drones and missiles. He further announced his plans to convene fellow G7 leaders to coordinate a united diplomatic response to Iran’s audacious attack.

However, an American official informed CNN that Biden assured Netanyahu that the United States would abstain from participating in offensive operations against Iran.

In related news, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin reportedly asked Israeli Security Minister Yoav Gallant to notify Washington before any potential response to Iran's strikes. Austin emphasized that the United States will take all necessary measures to protect its forces in the Middle East, as well as Israel. He, however, noted that Washington is not seeking conflict with Iran.

Austin also revealed that US forces had shot down dozens of missiles and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) en route to Israel, launched from Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen.

Following the Iranian retaliatory attack, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a warning to the US government. They stated that any support or participation in actions harming Iran's interests would result in a decisive response by the Iranian Armed Forces. (ILKHA)
