Turkish seedless raisin exports rise in value despite quantity dip
Türkiye's seedless raisin exports saw a positive shift in the 2023/24 season, with a 29% increase in foreign currency earnings despite a slight decline in export volume.
The value of seedless raisin exports rose significantly, reaching $333 million compared to $265 million in the previous season, reflecting a 25% increase.
Seedless raisin export volume dipped by 3%, falling from 157,000 tons to 152,500 tons.
This increase in export value can be attributed to a rise in the average export price per tonne, jumping from $1,689 in the 2022/23 season to $2,183 in the current season.
High inflation in Türkiye and potentially lower yields are mentioned as possible reasons for the price increase.
Overall, these figures suggest that Turkish seedless raisin exporters were able to leverage higher prices to offset a slight decline in export volume, resulting in a positive outcome for the industry. (ILKHA)
