The news was confirmed by Guinness World Records (GWR) and Leibensperger Funeral Homes in Leesport, Pennsylvania.

Born on September 18, 1961, in West Reading, Pennsylvania, Lori and George were two of eight siblings.

Despite being craniopagus twins, meaning they were joined at the head, they were able to live largely independent lives.

Details regarding their cause of death have not been released.

The Schappells were recognized by Guinness World Records as the oldest conjoined twins in the world.

Both Lori and George reportedly held jobs at Reading Hospital in Pennsylvania at some point in their lives.

The passing of Lori and George Schappell marks the end of an extraordinary life story. They defied medical expectations and lived full lives, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and inspiration. (ILKHA)
