According to Iranian diplomatic sources, Amirabdollahian emphasized that Iran reserves the right to defend itself in response to Israel's violation of international law and the Vienna Conventions, which led to the airstrike on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus and resulted in the martyrdom of seven military advisors to Syria.

While expressing Iran's commitment to avoiding tensions, Amirabdollahian called on Germany to explicitly condemn the attack and questioned how Europe and the United States would react if faced with a similar assault on their diplomatic facilities.

In response, Baerbock acknowledged the international immunity of diplomatic places but urged Iran to exercise restraint in its response to the aggression.

The conversation between the two foreign ministers also touched upon other developments in the West Asia region and bilateral relations, with both emphasizing the importance of maintaining dialogue. (ILKHA)
