Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov revealed that arrangements are being made for an upcoming meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Peskov indicated that the two leaders may convene in the near future, although specific dates for their meeting have yet to be determined.
Addressing the potential Putin-Erdoğan summit, Peskov stated: "Preparations are underway for contacts at the highest level. The dates of Russian-Turkish contacts at the highest level have not yet been set, but there is an understanding that they will take place in the near future."
This announcement comes amidst ongoing diplomatic efforts between Russia and Türkiye, highlighting the significance of bilateral relations between the two nations.
Meanwhile, President Erdogan, speaking at the 15th Traditional Ambassadors' Iftar held in mid-March, outlined Ankara's diplomatic priorities and upcoming engagements. Erdogan noted: "We hosted Ukrainian President Mr. Zelenskiy in Istanbul. We will host Russian President Mr. Putin after the elections." He emphasized Türkiye's commitment to restoring navigation safety in the Black Sea and facilitating secure grain trade.
Furthermore, Erdogan reiterated Türkiye's stance on regional conflicts, advocating for peace and stability. He stressed the importance of avoiding actions that could escalate tensions and spread conflicts to NATO member states.
