The presence of numerous internationally acclaimed health institutions has propelled Türkiye to generate a revenue of $2.3 billion in 2023.

The Trade Ministry disclosed on Monday that Türkiye's health tourism sector, bolstered by its accredited health institutions, has garnered international recognition, resulting in the country's seventh-place ranking worldwide. The success of the sector is reflected in the revenue of $2.3 billion recorded in 2023.

The "Heal in Türkiye" internet portal, backed by the ministry and serving as the forefront of Türkiye's health tourism sector, now features 175 institutions operating in the industry. The portal continues to witness a surge in applications for participation, indicating the growing prominence of Türkiye's healthcare services on the global stage.

An official statement from the portal highlighted Türkiye's ascent to the seventh position globally in health tourism, attributing it to the country's accredited health institutions.

In 2022, Türkiye generated $1.9 billion in revenue from health service exports, a figure that climbed to $2.3 billion in 2023, coinciding with the arrival of 1.4 million health tourists in the country.

To further support the development of the health tourism sector, the Trade Ministry allocated $22.8 million in funding to health services firms. These initiatives align with Türkiye's aspirations to establish itself as a leading global hub for health tourism.

The majority of health tourists visiting Türkiye originated from countries such as Germany, the UK, Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and various Middle Eastern nations, according to the statement. (ILKHA)
